As a PhD researcher, Megan applies genetic techniques to better understand the ecology, biodiversity, and evolution of marine species, with a strong focus on conservation and sustainable management of natural resources in the face of intensifying environmental challenges.
She has a strong background in creating research projects and proposals which address emerging and persisting environmental issues and has successfully gathered funding from internationally recognised funding bodies (including the Fisheries Society of the British Isles, Aberystwyth University, and the Marine Biological Association).
Furthermore, Megan has proven experience applying her research skills and environmental knowledge to lead projects and advise governmental, charitable, and advisory bodies (including Natural Resources Wales, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea), working with interdisciplinary stakeholders to communicate complex environmental issues.
Her experience reviewing, critically assessing, and validating research from scientific peers for internationally recognised journal Scientific Reports, will allow Megan to assess proposals submitted for Sycomore funding to ensure quality projects are selected
