This art piece is created for advancing and funding solutions for scientists to protect forests and improve conservation strategies.

Rainforests are often called the lungs of the planet for their role in absorbing carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, and increasing local humidity. Rainforests also stabilise our climate, house incredible amounts of plants and wildlife, and produce nourishing rainfall all around the planet.

Reducing deforestation is a huge priority. We all know this. Yet year after year we seeing less and less meaningful action.

Rainforests help us;

  • stabilise the world’s climate
  • absorb approx 20% of the worlds CO2 emissions
  • provide a home to many plants and animals
  • maintain the water cycle
  • protect against flood, drought, and erosion
  • are a source for medicines and foods
  • support tribal people.

Deforestation is a serious problem to humanity and our ecosystems. And a growing trend of companies are buying “carbon credits” to off set their CO2 emissions. However, a recent study and investigation by the Guardian and a group of scientists have exposed the difficulties in relying on such models. You can read the full report and the science here; https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jan/18/revealed-forest-carbon-offsets-biggest-provider-worthless-verra-aoe

More thought leadership is needed if we are to truly protect our rainforests. Proceeds from Sycomore art sales will help scientists and experts in this space explore new ways to accelerate alternative solutions.

We welcome proposed solutions which directly affect any forest in any given area – this includes further academic research funding.

Angelina Wixley is a rising talent from Zimbabwe whose art speaks with the quiet urgency of nature itself.  She creates deeply moving drawings and paintings that celebrate the beauty of wildlife and expose the fragile balance of our ecosystems. Her work is not just visual—it’s a call to protect what we too often take for granted.

Angelina’s subjects—endangered animals, native landscapes, and symbolic guardians of the earth—are rendered with sensitivity, technical skill, and an emotional depth well beyond her years. Every brushstroke reflects her deep love for nature and a fierce commitment to its survival.

Living close to the natural world she portrays, Angelina has witnessed firsthand the effects of environmental neglect and climate change. Her art is her protest, her hope, and her contribution to change. Collectors and environmental supporters are not just buying a piece of art—they’re investing in a young voice determined to shape a more conscious world.

Each purchase supports not only a promising young artist but a mission to preserve the planet through art that inspires, educates, and ignites action.
