An artistic perspective on the world where chocolate begins.
This artwork was born from a desire to introduce the fascinating world of cacao through art. It invites us to imagine travelling to a Colombian cacao plantation, venturing into its tropical vegetation and discovering the extraordinary diversity of plants and animals that inhabit it.
Cacao often reaches us in the form of chocolate, and we forget the landscape from which it comes. Before becoming one of the world’s most cherished foods, cacao grows on a tropical tree whose fruits grow directly from its trunk and branches, beneath the shade of taller trees and within an environment where every species plays an essential role.
In this garden, trees provide shade, leaf litter protects and enriches the soil, tiny midges pollinate cacao flowers, and numerous animal species find food, shelter and natural pathways among the tree canopies. A woman farmer who cultivates cacao walks along the path with her dog, gathering the ripe fruits. Her presence highlights the work, knowledge and dedication of those who cultivate the land and keep the tradition of cacao alive.
With a colourful, detailed naïve painting style, the artwork invites viewers to pause and explore the scene. Towering trees, delicate flowers, brightly coloured birds and the forest’s more discreet inhabitants come together in an image where cacao cultivation coexists with the richness of tropical life.
El Jardín del Cacao reminds us that behind every fruit lies an ecosystem worth discovering and protecting, and that understanding the origins of chocolate is also a way of appreciating the natural world that makes it possible.

Patricia is a Spanish artist, holding a degree in Geography and History, whose work combines aesthetic sensitivity with a deep social and environmental commitment. Her international trajectory, having lived in countries such as Syria, the Philippines, Senegal, Angola, Spain, and Venezuela, has profoundly shaped her artistic practice.
Her work reflects both the beauty of nature and social realities, from the “Great Lakes Conflict” to the aftermath of the civil war in Angola.
Patricia’s work has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions, including exhibitions in Senegal dedicated to highlighting the work of women artists, such as the Dakar Women’s Group Art Exhibit, the United Nations Group Exhibition for International Women’s Day, and Femin Art 92, as well as exhibitions in Syria, Spain, and Venezuela. She works across multiple techniques, including oil and acrylic, creating works on silk, canvas, murals, and even ostrich eggs.
Her art invites the viewer to engage with nature and social consciousness, transforming each work into a reflection of lived experiences, history and collective responsibility.
